چکیده

Genes possessed by microbes in the rhizosphere influence metabolic activities that occur this zone. Although maize has been reported to be a hotspot of genes, these genes remain under-investigated. Hence, study aimed at identifying putative microbial with plant beneficial functions underexplored microbiome using shotgun metagenomics approach. Sampling was done flowering stage plants and both bulk soils were collected triplicates. The metagenomes examined revealed involved carbon fixation, nitrogen iron acquisition, heat cold shock, phosphorus solubilization utilization, sulfur cycling, siderophore production. beta diversity analysis showed significant variations ( p < 0.05) across which further confirmed distinct separations between samples as seen on principal coordinate (PCoA) plot. Contrarily, no difference observed within habitats = 0.99). predominance agricultural importance such nifH , nifA, groES, cspA signifies region is endowed organisms potential for improving growth, mitigating stress, reducing effect extreme temperatures, can optimized developing biofertilizers. Therefore, development strategies will help cultivating organisms, are mostly unculturable, encouraged. This would make them readily available use bio-inoculants other biotechnological applications.

Functional Potential of Soil Microbial Communities in the Maize Rhizosphere

Microbial communities in the rhizosphere make significant contributions to crop health and nutrient cycling. However, their ability to perform important biogeochemical processes remains uncharacterized. Here, we identified important functional genes that characterize the rhizosphere microbial community to understand metabolic capabilities in the maize rhizosphere using the GeoChip-based functio...

Metagenomics: microbial diversity through a scratched lens.

Since nucleic acids were first extracted directly from the environment and sequenced, metagenomics has grown to one of the most data-rich and pervasive techniques for understanding the taxonomic and functional diversity of microbial communities. In the last decade, cheaper sequencing has democratized the application of metagenomics and generated billions of reads, revealing staggering microbial...

Analysis of Microbial Functions in the Rhizosphere Using a Metabolic-Network Based Framework for Metagenomics Interpretation

Advances in metagenomics enable high resolution description of complex bacterial communities in their natural environments. Consequently, conceptual approaches for community level functional analysis are in high need. Here, we introduce a framework for a metagenomics-based analysis of community functions. Environment-specific gene catalogs, derived from metagenomes, are processed into metabolic...

Metagenomics: Inferring Microbial Function

Background: The number of prokaryotic genome sequences becoming available is growing steadily and is growing faster than our ability to accurately annotate them. Description: We describe a fully automated service for annotating bacterial and archaeal genomes. The service identifies protein-encoding, rRNA and tRNA genes, assigns functions to the genes, predicts which subsystems are represented i...
